Meet the ITC Sports Travel Team

Pride and passion are words you’ll often hear used by staff across the International Travel Connections (ITC) brands. Our staff take a genuine pride in what they do, and each has a passion for their specialist area that makes them expert in their role.

That’s why at ITC Sports Travel each of our team will meticulously craft your luxury sports holiday around your personal, specific needs, offering their own insight and first-hand knowledge. They all have a passion for sport and for travel that has guided them through their careers and which will often see them enjoying both outside of working hours too!

We believe that our people are our greatest asset at ITC and will only take on those who demonstrate that they can use their passion for sport and travel every single day…that’s why when you hear us say we have the ‘best job in the world’, we aren’t kidding!

The Team

Jamie Smith - Head of Sports

Having been fortunate enough to work within the Sports and Travel industry for the last 18 years, I’ve been to many far flung corners of the world and seen places that I would never have the opportunity to visit, all to experience another fantastic sporting spectacle.

Watching the famous Boxing Day Test Match in Melbourne with over 90,000 spectators at the MCG has to be a must for any cricket fanatic, whilst the glitz, glamour and party atmosphere at the Monaco Grand Prix - where anyone who is anyone has to be seen - is definitely a once in a lifetime opportunity which I will never forget.

With cricket being my main passion, I'm always looking forward to the next ITC Sports tour, which have taken us everywhere from Sri Lanka to South Africa. Of course I'm always cheering on the England team, and the highs and lows of the past few years have made the events all the more thrilling.

The Team

Richard Nurse - Sports Tour Director

My love of sports has been there from an early age and joining ITC Luxury Travel group in their sports department all those years ago was the stuff dreams are made of.

Planning, directing and managing the various tour experiences has been a privilege and the one memory that I will always treasure above all the events I have been fortunate enough to be involved with are the people I have met along the way.

Life is a journey so one better enjoy the ride, what better way than with ITC Sports Travel.

To me, travel is like electricity ~ it makes me feel alive. To combine travel and sports is a dream; I cannot really ask for more.

I am Yorkshire born and bred and live in the beautiful town of Harrogate. I love to garden, walk my terrier and watch the cricket on a summer’s day (with a glass of Pimm’s). I follow Wales and Wharfedale when it comes to rugby... thankfully I am not the sensitive type! Horse racing is another passion of mine. I rarely win but can be often found at York or Ripon in the summer, so I guess, I am fair-weather horse racing enthusiast!

The West Indies is my number one play ground ~ it’s like medicine. The destination really ticks all the boxes with endless sandy beaches, luxury hotels and rum punch! Of course, the cricket and horse racing is an absolute bonus and shouldn't be missed!

The above combination, possibly explains why the West Indies, remains a firm favourite for me after 25 years!

Georgine Roberts - Sports Product Executive

I have worked for ITC for 20 years and was very excited to join the Sports Team 8 years ago. It was quite a change of direction as I’d been used to working with clients who were departing on a daily basis; now much of the work is ‘behind the scenes’, building the tour until it is ready to depart and then it is a case of ‘all hands on deck’ to ensure our tours run smoothly from start to finish.

I have been lucky enough to attend a Rugby League World Cup match between New Zealand and Samoa, and was thrilled to see a very rare and famous double Haka before the game!

I have worked at ITC for over 20 years now, with 8 of those spent within ITC Sports Travel. I have been lucky enough to enjoy various sporting events from watching Wales beat Argentina in Cardiff in their final World Cup warm up game, to cheering on the Arc winner at the Prix de L’Arc de Triomphe weekend every October.

Spending a weekend in Paris at the Arc is a truly enjoyable way to see two fantastic days' racing and our selection of hotels are surrounded by authentic Parisian restaurants, which are the ideal place to unwind after a day at the races. As our office is based in the beautiful city of Chester, home to the oldest racecourse in the country, we are lucky enough to attend some of the meetings, my favourite being the May Festival.

I have worked at ITC for 8 years, and within the ITC Sports/Horse Racing Abroad team for 7 years. Moving to Sports was the best move I made, as it combines my love of travel and sporting events. I have always enjoyed travel (who doesn’t!) and prior to working at ITC, I studied Tourism Management at the University of Chester. I have been lucky enough to travel the world and watch some great sporting events, my favourite being the Qatar Prix de L’Arc de Triomphe in Paris.

Every year we take 100's of clients over to Paris for this world famous race – which really puts our organisational skills to the test! I was also lucky enough to have visited Santa Anita for the Breeders' Cup in 2016. I would wholeheartedly recommend a trip to the Breeders' Cup, it's a fantastic experience. In my spare time I enjoy watching Rugby League and can often be found supporting my local team - the North Wales Crusaders.

Nicola Suggitt - Sales Support and Administrator

I joined ITC after studying the travel industry at both college and university for numerous years. Part of my degree involved studying sporting events which is a particular interest of mine. The opportunity to be part of the Sports team here at ITC has allowed me to combine these interests into my current role.

I enjoy a trip to the races, my favorite being York as this was my local course before moving to Chester. A horse racing highlight for me was the opportunity to visit Paris for the Qatar Prix De L’Arc de Triomphe. It is definitely a must do trip for all racing enthusiasts.
